Collaboration has become a big part of using the service, with subscribers being able to create playlists with friends and also share music.
It’s also become the norm to upload your own music to Spotify on release, which means it’s super convenient to share your own songs without having to jump through hoops!
One of the more exciting features of Spotify is ‘Spotify Wrapped’. This is a unique function of Spotify that lets you take a deep dive into your own listening habits as well as your favorite artists and songs.
You can also share your stats with friends and check out what music they are into as well.
If you’re a Spotify user, you might be wondering what Spotify Wrapped is (and how to access it).
In this article, we’ll explain exactly how the Wrapped function works and how you can check it out for yourself.
We’ve also put together a list of 5 of our favorite third-party apps to give you an insight into your Spotify listening habits. These are:
- Stats For Spotify
- Obscurify
- Skiley
- Chosic
- Discover Quickly
How Do I See My Spotify Wrapped Results And Stats?
If you’re wondering how to see your Spotify Wrapped rundown, you’ll usually find a prompt pops up towards the end of the year on your Spotify app (after all, they want to make it as easy as possible to access Spotify Wrapped!).
Click on this, and you’ll be automatically taken through your results before being asked if you’d like to share them with friends.
How Do I See My Spotify Wrapped Playlists?
If you’re wondering how to find your Spotify Wrapped playlist, then fear not, as Spotify will also make this foolproof once they start publishing the Wrapped feature at the end of each year.
Spotify Wrapped Playlists are a list of your favorite, and most played songs from the previous year.
What’s neat about this is that it essentially acts as a time capsule (in fact, I regularly check my Wrapped playlist at the end of the year and discover hidden gems I’d completely forgotten about since the start of the year!).
When Spotify wrapped becomes available, follow these instructions:
- Open your Spotify app
- Head to the home screen
- Select the prompt to listen and download your Wrapped playlist.
How To Check Spotify Wrapped At Any Time Of Year
If you’ve been searching and wondering how to find Spotify wrapped at any time of year, you might be struggling.
Given that Wrapped is an end-of-year feature, you won’t be able to open up your Spotify account and see your playlists and stats from the home screen all year round.
At the moment, Spotify doesn’t have a dedicated in-app page for loading up previous Wrapped playlists on demand; however, this can be done in the Spotify desktop app.
To access the previous year’s playlists, follow one of these links below on your desktop:
Another quick way of finding these is using the search term ‘Your Top Songs Of’ on your Spotify search bar. This will work on mobile or desktop apps.
Keying this in will bring up a list of playlists to navigate. You’ll be able to listen and download them as normal.
Keep in mind that this can still bring up playlists with a similar name, so if you largely listen to jazz and you stumble across a playlist of thrash metal, you’re likely on a playlist someone has made themselves with an identical name!
What Is Spotify Wrapped?
Wrapped has almost become an annual tradition in itself!
Each year, at the end of the year, Spotify invites you to check out your very own Wrapped rundown of your listening habits of the year.
Since it began in December 2016, Wrapped has been a really fun way of looking back over the past year of your Spotify account activity.
Once loaded, you’ll be guided through exactly what you’ve been listening to, from podcasts to music genres to specific bands.
In true Spotify style, this is usually done with a slick interface and an option to ‘share’ your Spotify Wrapped results with friends.
Whether you see it as a genius marketing campaign by Spotify or a genuine insight into your own habits, Wrapped is always fun to check out at the end of the year.
How Do I Check My Spotify Stats?
Whilst Spotify Wrapped is a cool little feature of the platform, you can actually dig a bit deeper into your Spotify stats all year round in a few different ways.
Love it or hate it, Spotify keeps track of your listening habits. Ultimately this helps you as a listener as Spotify will know the kind of content you like and provide recommendations based on this.
If you want to find out your stats here’s how.
Find My Spotify Stats On PC & Mac
In order to view your Spotify stats on PC or Mac just follow these steps:
- Log into your Spotify account (either with the desktop app or web browser version)
- Click on your name in the top right corner and hit ‘Profile’
- Scroll down and you’ll be able to see your top artists and top tracks of that month
Find My Spotify Stats On Mobile
To check your Spotify results on mobile just follow these steps:
- Open your Spotify app and select ‘Your Library’
- Tap on either Playlists, Artists, Albums or Podcasts & Shows
Keep in mind that doing this on the mobile app won’t offer stats that are as in-depth as the desktop app, you’ll only be able to access your most recently played artists or podcasts.
Also be aware that listening offline won’t count towards these stats.
Access Your Spotify Stats With 3rd Party Apps
There are several apps you can use to get a deeper insight into your Spotify listening habits. If you’re looking to do so then we’d recommend using one of the following.
Stats For Spotify
Stats For Spotify is a great tool for checking out your Spotify stats. Simply log in with your Spotify account details and Stats For Spotify will pull up your favourite artists, songs and albums. This can be done for any time period from the last month to your entire listening history and the app will update every day.
You’ll also be able to set up your recently played tracks into a playlist with timestamps.
Obscurify
If your music tastes are a bit more ‘out there’ or leftfield, then this is a really fun app to use.
Obscurify ranks your music tastes against other users and generates you a score. A higher score means you have a highly obscure music taste!
You can share your results with friends and build playlists to be listened to directly in the Spotify app.
Skiley
Skiley uses a unique AI system to analyse the music you listen to and create playlists based on the artists you like the most.
Uniquely it also helps you get to know the songs you enjoy with live lyrics, song meanings and comments of whatever you are listening to. It’ll also recommend new music for you to check out.
Chosic
Chosic breaks down your favourite music whether that be artist, genre or song but it’s also a really fun way of discovering new music.
You’ll be able to access your Spotify stats via Chosic but you can also search for new songs and bands through the likes of their ‘Similar Artist Finder’ that digs out music based on what you already enjoy. Some of their filters for discovering new music are:
- Theme
- Lyrics
- Title
- Similar Artist Finder
- Songs By BPM
- Obscure Song Finder
Discover Quickly
Discover Quickly is one for those of you that really enjoy niche genres.
It will arrange your favourite music in various ways such as popularity and danceability but it will also go deeper into more specific and sub genres. So if you have a unique taste for wild music styles then you’ll have a lot of fun with Discover Quickly.
Once you select a genre it will create a playlist for you, or it can randomise this and pluck a new genre out of a hat for you.
FAQ
Is Spotify Wrapped Only For Premium Users?
Nope! Spotify wrapped is available to all users, both free and Premium.
However, Premium users will be able to access more personalized stats and will usually find several features each year that a free user isn’t able to see.
If you’re a free user, you can still go back and check out previous year’s playlists, but you will still have restrictions such as the number of tracks you can skip in one go.
Does Spotify Wrapped Include November And December?
As it’s an ‘end of year’ feature, it’s easy to assume that Spotify Wrapped covers the entirety of the year.
It actually covers the period of January 1st through October 31st, with November and December’s listening data being completely omitted from your Wrapped playlist.
So if you’re looking to squeeze in some guilty pleasures under the radar, November and December are the time to do it!
How Long Does Spotify Wrapped Last?
Spotify Wrapped was introduced in 2016, and although you won’t be able to access your wrapped stats in the same way as you could at the end of each year, your playlists are still available to check out whenever you like using the links above.
As far as future Wrapped playlists and stats, Spotify seem likely to continue the tradition each year.
It’s generally a massive success and something that music lovers can look forward to at the end of December.
Why Can’t I See My Spotify Wrapped On My App?
It depends on when you are looking. Usually, Spotify will remove the Wrapped feature from the app home page around mid-January, so if you are searching after then, this is likely the reason why.
