Galaxy Buds are brilliant for listening to music. They sound great and don’t take up much room in your pocket or rucksack. The downside is they can be easily lost due to their size!

Although it can be frustrating to lose your buds and not be able to find them, there are some easy ways to locate a lost pair and some precautions to take to make sure if they do go missing, you can track them down relatively easily.

How Do I Find My Lost Galaxy Buds?

If you can’t find your Galaxy Buds, don’t panic. Chances are they are nearby and won’t have gone far.

Check whether they are connected to your phone or not, as this will determine how you can go about finding them. If you have noticed they’ve gone missing, follow these steps as soon as possible, especially if you’ve been out and about.

How To Find Your Galaxy Buds When They Are Connected To Your Phone

If your buds are connected to your phone, then this will make things quite a bit easier when it comes to tracking them down.

All it takes is the Galaxy Wearable app, but the process will differ slightly depending on which model of Galaxy Buds you have.

Galaxy Buds or Buds+

For Galaxy Buds or Buds+ users, just follow these instructions to locate your missing earbuds:

  1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone
  2. Scroll to ‘Find My Earbuds’ and tap on this option
  3. Select ‘Start’

This is known as the ‘Ring’ function and will cause your Galaxy buds to beep. All you need to do is locate the sound, and you will find your buds! Once you’ve got hold of them, tap ‘Stop,’ and the beeping will finish.

Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Buds Pro, or Buds 2

If you are using Buds Live, Pro, or Buds 2, then locating your buds is slightly different but still straightforward. All you need to do is follow these instructions:

  1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone
  2. Scroll to, and tap on ‘Find My Earbuds’
  3. Select ‘Ring’ to make the buds beep, or select ‘Navigate,’ and you will be able to open Google Maps and locate your buds.

How To Find Your Galaxy Buds When They Are Not Connected To Your Phone

If your Galaxy Buds aren’t connected to your phone, it may be trickier to locate them. There could be several reasons why they are not connected to your phone, such as:

  • Their battery has died
  • They are no longer within range
  • They have been manually disconnected from your phone
  • They are damaged

If your buds are no longer connected, don’t worry. There is still every chance you can find them. You’ll still be able to locate the last known location of your buds with a few easy steps.

To find your bud’s last known location, just follow these instructions:

  1. Open your Galaxy Wearable app
  2. Scroll to and tap ‘Find My Earbuds’ to show the last known location of your buds
  3. Tap on ‘Navigate’ to get directions to your buds
  4. Once you are in close proximity to your buds, tap on ‘Search Nearby.’ If your buds are in the vicinity, you will see them on screen.

Locate Your Lost Galaxy Buds With The SmartThings App

With wireless technology being such a big part of our lives nowadays, being able to find lost items is very important.

The SmartThings app has been designed to connect to and control your smart devices all within one app, but one key feature is the ability to track down your Galaxy Buds.

As a side note, this is also a great security app, as it can wipe data from certain tech items. So if something goes astray, you know your personal details are quickly and easily erasable.

In terms of finding your lost Galaxy buds, SmartThings has a feature called SmartThings Find that will track them down.

Wondering about the difference between in-ear monitors and earbuds? Here’s all you need to know!

How Does SmartThings Find Work?

SmartThings Find uses a combination of technology to track down your lost Galaxy buds.

First of all, the GPS sensor can track the position of your earbuds, but it also uses an IR response to pinpoint their location accurately.

If you’re wondering what this means, the IR sensor stands for infrared. Using the same technology that tells your buds whether they are in your ears or not can be used to find them when they are lost.

To find your Galaxy buds using the SmartThings Find feature, just follow these steps:

  1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone
  2. Scroll to and select ‘Find My Earbuds’
  3. The SmartThings window will automatically open and show the last known location of the buds
  4. Select ‘Ring’ to cause the buds to beep or ‘Navigate’ to get directions to the buds

Which Galaxy Buds Are Compatible With SmartThings Find?

Not all Galaxy buds will be compatible with the SmartThings Find app function, so keep this in mind if you have lost your buds and cannot see them in the app.

Currently, the Galaxy buds that are discoverable with SmartThings Find are:

  • Buds+
  • Buds Live
  • Buds Pro

How To Use ‘Notify When Left Behind’ To Track Your Galaxy Earbuds

Using this ‘Notify When Left Behind’ function is a great way of stopping yourself from losing your buds.

This feature will notify you when you leave your buds in a certain area and move away from them. For example, if you put them on your desk at work and leave to go home, you’ll get a notification.

To turn on ‘Notify When Left Behind,’ just follow these steps:

  1. Open the SmartThings app on your phone
  2. Click on ‘Devices,’ followed by ‘Galaxy Buds’ and ‘Find Device’
  3. Select ‘Notify When Left Behind’ to turn on

You can also add a ‘Safe Place’ to tell your phone it’s OK if you’ve left your buds in this area (such as at home).

FAQs

What Is The Range Of My Galaxy Buds?

If you have lost your buds and want to use the ring function to locate them, then there will be a limited range, meaning if they are more than a certain distance away from your phone, then they won’t pick up the right signal and be able to ‘beep’ to help you locate them.

Currently, the range is around 32 feet. If they are more than this distance away, a more reliable option would be to use the Navigate function to locate your missing buds.

Why Aren’t My Lost Galaxy Buds Beeping?

There could be many reasons your buds aren’t beeping if you attempt to find them.

First of all, they may simply not be in range. This could mean that they are in a completely different location than you, in which case, try using the Navigate option to pinpoint them.

It could be that the IR sensors are blocked as well, so if you’re using the SmartThings Find function, they might be close by but simply aren’t able to pick up the IR signal.

Try to remember where they may be. They could be in a bag or surrounded by other objects.

Why Are My Galaxy Buds Not In Their Last Known Location?

If you’ve used the Navigate function to find your bud’s last location but then arrived and realized they aren’t there, you may be left scratching your head.

The key thing to remember is that their last known location will only tell you where they last transmitted a signal. So if you’ve left them in a car or with somebody else, they could have moved on since they were physically in that area.

Is Ring Or Navigate Better For Finding Lost Galaxy Buds?

Both have their merits, but it depends on where you think the buds may be.

‘Ring’ is a great function if they are likely in close proximity as you should be able to hear them, but obviously, this won’t be much use if you’ve just stepped off a bus and realized they are no longer in your pocket.

Navigate is much more effective if they are a distance away. Buds are small, so a map showing their location is handy for tracking them down. If you use Navigate and get to the rough location of your buds, then using Ring can be handy to pinpoint them accurately.

Will My Galaxy Buds Beep When Disconnected?

If your buds have disconnected (for example, if they have lost their battery power), then unfortunately, they won’t beep.

If this is the case, you may have more luck using the Navigate function to find their last known location.

Can I Locate My Galaxy Buds Case With SmartThings Find Or Galaxy Wearable?

As your Galaxy Buds case doesn’t transmit a signal, you cannot find the case alone using either SmartThings Find or the Galaxy Wearable app.
